The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to November 30, with forecasts predicting 13–19 named storms, 6–10 hurricanes, and 3–5 major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher.

The Mico Library is reminding the community that preparedness saves lives. Simple steps such as stocking up on emergency items, keeping 4–5 days’ supply of food and water, trimming overhanging branches, and creating a family emergency plan can make a big difference.

Hurricanes are powerful systems with winds starting at 74 mph, and Jamaica is vulnerable to their impact. This year’s theme is clear: Disasters do happen—are you prepared?
