The Mico University College joined the global observance of Teachers’ Day on May 7, 2025, with a heartfelt message from President Dr. Asburn Pinnock, celebrating the transformative role of educators in shaping Jamaica’s future.
Dr. Pinnock expressed deep gratitude to Mico’s lecturers, calling them the “heartbeat of this noble institution” and praising their devotion as stewards of wisdom and champions of the nation’s future. He emphasized that The Mico’s 190-year legacy continues to stand as a beacon of educational excellence and civic responsibility.
The day was made even more special with a visit from The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, who joined the Mico community in honoring teachers for their enduring impact.

In his message, Dr. Pinnock urged teachers to continue advancing critical thinking, STEAM education, and equity in learning, aligning with Mico’s mission to elevate humanity through education. He also reminded the community of Rev. Enos Nuttall’s vision of classrooms as crucibles of equality and opportunity.
Closing with the institution’s enduring motto, “Do It With Thy Might,” Dr. Pinnock reaffirmed Mico’s commitment to producing educators whose legacy of service and excellence will forever illuminate Jamaica’s path.
